Lockhouse Stay

Lets stay in a historic lockhouse! Swains Lockhouse, located by Lock 21 along the C&O Canal, is a modern lockhouse has all the modern amenities such as heating, running water, a kitchen, and a shower. The maximum capacity of the lockhouse is eight people. If we get a full house the estimated cost to stay two nights will be $50 which includes the $5 Adventuring fee. We will organize food and determine the costs of that after the group comes together.

Depending on who signs up it may be necessary to rearrange the provided trundle beds or bring sleeping pads so we can spread out and make sure everyone has a comfortable sleeping arrangement. You can learn more about the lockhouse here.

Itinerary is still being planned but I hope to have a relaxing trip. We will hike along the C&O Towpath to Olmsted Island within Great Falls National Park with a nice overlook of the Mather Gorge. We'll be flexible depending on the group.

Check-in starts Friday, Dec 4th at 3PM. Friday will be low key as people trickle in and get settled. Checkout is Sunday at 10AM. For those interested we can continue our adventures by visiting Glenstone which is only a 10 minute drive away.
