Loop Quantum Gravity, S2E3: Rovelli & Vidotto ch. Preface, 1.4 to 1.7

We are now starting to dive into the texts. Our Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) study group will be working through the mathematics behind LQG using these two textbooks:

Rovelli, C., & Vidotto, F. (2015). Covariant loop quantum gravity: An elementary introduction to quantum gravity and spinfoam theory. Cambridge University Press.
Gambini, R., & Pullin, J. (2011). A first course in loop quantum gravity. Oxford University Press.

Rovelli/Vidotto: Sections 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, and 1.7.
We got through a bunch of this material last time, but we still had more to finish up to make it to the end of section 1.7. We will work through the examples and exercises, but it would be good if you took a stab at them ahead of time.

If you don't have a copy of the book, you can find PDFs of chapters of it here. It's a little awkward to navigate, but it does work.
These are all in chapter one: "Spacetime as a quantum object".
