A walk not led for three years! This walk takes us up to Top Withens, the inspiration behind Wuthering Heights. All of the 650’ of ascent on this walk is in the climb up to TW, after which the return route is straightforward. There are no big hills but a reasonably taxing ascent plus some rocky uneven sections. The return route is along good moorland tracks and quiet roads. Expansive views on the return leg which takes us through the village of Stanbury and across Lower Laithe Reservoir. So, this walk is suitable for anyone who is reasonably fit and does not suffer discomfort when walking uphill. The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time. Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you. START LOCATION: Meet outside the Bronte Parsonage Museum adjacent to the car park with toilets (30p last time I checked!). PARKING: The cheapest place to park is the Bronte Village cp, Weavers Hill, BD22 8QN. Pay for parking at the meter near the entrance and then drive to the top of the cp and there is a path in the corner that takes you to our meeting point. As you drive up the first section of the steep hill in Haworth, the road takes a sharp right. At this point, you turn left and then first right onto Weavers Hill, which runs alongside Haworth Old Hall Inn. Parking fee is £4. After-walk refreshment at the Old White Lion Inn at the top of Haworth's cobbled main street. I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
