Anticipated weather on hike day
Today's 3.3 mile hike will start and terminate in the parking lot for the 22nd Street access to the Buttermilk Trail. We will follow the Buttermilk Trail to Belle Island, cossing the river on the pedesrian bridge below the Lee Bridge. After we make a stop at the Virginia War Memorial we'll recross the river on the Potterfield Bridge. The Buttermilk Trail, East, will bring us back to our starting point.
This is anticipated to be a hike over some paved walkways and city streets but most of the trail will follow rustic riverside paths. Some ability to negotiate tree roots, rustic trails, low hanging vines, uneven pavement, toxic plants, culverts, reptiles, damp trail conditions, stairs, spider webs, tall vegetation, fallen trees, scorpions, birds of prey, and river rocks is desirable.
This hike will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us. If you need directions to the Meet Up location click on the arrow that is found under "How to find us" in the event description. A larger map will be displayed from which directions to the Meet Up location can be obtained by clicking "Directions" on the left side of the map.

If the parking lot at the 22nd Street Park Entrance is closed look for parking on 22nd Street between Riverside Drive and Semmes Avenue, a scant half block away.
