LIVING CASCAIS: Couples & Families Picnic

Building a life in a new country is exciting… but building a REAL SOCIAL CIRCLE along the way isn’t always easy. Many of us arrive in Portugal knowing very few people. We make acquaintances, meet colleagues, maybe even chat with other parents at school or in the playground—but finding couples and families you genuinely connect with takes time. THAT’S EXACTLY WHY WE’RE ORGANISING THIS EVENT! Hosted in partnership with PORTUGAL FOR LIVING, this relaxed picnic is an opportunity for couples and families to meet others who are building a life here in Portugal, share experiences, and hopefully create friendships that continue long after the afternoon is over. We’ll meet at the beautiful PARQUE MARECHAL CARMONA, one of CASCAIS’ most charming parks, where we’ll spend a few relaxed hours chatting, eating, and enjoying the summer together. While many participants will be internationals living in the region of Lisbon, locals who enjoy an international environment and would like to meet people from different cultures are just as welcome. And of course… CHILDREN ARE A BIG PART OF THE DAY! If we end up having a good number of children attending (and we certainly hope we do! 😊), we’ll do our best to arrange a DEDICATED ENTERTAINER to organise games and activities throughout the afternoon. We think this would make the experience even more enjoyable for both the kids and the parents. Should we decide to go ahead with this, we’ll let all registered families know in advance and ask for a small CONFIRMATION FEE to help cover the cost. We expect this to be around €10-15 per kid. If there aren’t enough children for it to make sense, there will be NO confirmation fee for anyone and we’ll simply keep things informal and let the little ones enjoy the park naturally together. COUPLES ATTENDING WITHOUT CHILDREN WILL NEVER BE ASKED TO PAY ANY CONFIRMATION FEE. ;-) This is a COMMUNITY PICNIC rather than a catered event. As hosts, my wife Beth and I will bring a few basics to get things started, but PLEASE BRING WHATEVER YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO EAT AND DRINK. If you’d like to bring something small to share with the group, you’re more than welcome to—but there’s absolutely no obligation. OUR HOPE IS SIMPLE: That you’ll leave not only having enjoyed a lovely afternoon in Cascais, but having met people you’ll want to see again. Because sometimes all it takes is one picnic to find your people. ❤️ ⸻ 🧺 WHAT TO BRING Something comfortable to sit on (blanket, picnic mat or towel) Whatever you and your family would like to eat and drink 🥪 Something small to share with the group if you’d like 😊 (Completely optional.) A few toys or games for the children, if you wish 🧸 Sunscreen, sunglasses and maybe a hat ☀️ And most importantly… a relaxed attitude and an openness to meeting wonderful people from around the world. ❤️
