Shelldance Orchid Garden This location offers magnificent ocean views from the parking lot and interesting buildings with charming gardens. You also have the option of painting indoors within Shelldance's extensive greenhouses, which are packed with orchids of every color, shape and size. Typically we have good weather at this site but if not, then indoor painting is available. The entire vibe of this location is zen-like and unique. Historically, our group paints here every December, subject to confirmation by the owners. I will be in touch with them to finalize our exact dates. Note that the entrance to Shelldance from Highway 1 is somewhat obscure. If you are coming from the north (i.e. San Francisco) you will need to do a U-turn at a traffic light to loop back north on Highway 1 for a few hundred yards to reach the Shelldance entrance. Once you are on Highway 1 north, you will need to keep a sharp eye out for the Shelldance entrance which is on your right. You will then drive up a steep curving hill to reach Shelldance. Parking Parking is plentiful and free Bathrooms There is a bathroom with flush toilet inside the first greenhouse and two port-a-potties in the parking lot.
