DANCING THE ARCHETYPES

The Body Imagines · An Archetypal Movement Playground

What happens when we allow an image to enter the body — and let the body answer

through movement?

Dancing the Archetypes is a weekly movement practice exploring the meeting place

between body, imagination and symbolic imagery.

Rather than learning steps or trying to dance in a particular way, we begin by listening.

Through breath, somatic awareness and a guided warm-up, we arrive more fully in the

body and awaken our sensitivity.

From there, each session introduces an archetypal image or theme as a doorway into

movement.

How does an archetype change the way you stand, move through space, breathe, or meet

and relate to another person?

There is no single interpretation. We allow the intelligence and imagination of each body to

find its own right way to move expressively.

The practice moves between individual exploration, playful partner encounters and group

improvisation. At times we witness. At times we respond. At times we follow an impulse

without knowing where it will lead.

Each session gradually unfolds into a more open dance space, where the explorations of

the day can be integrated freely through movement, gesture, rhythm, voice, stillness and

interaction with the group.

No fixed steps. No need to know how to dance or perform. All bodies, backgrounds

and levels are welcome.

This is a space to arrive as you are, become curious about your own movement, and

explore what else your body might know.

For those who return regularly, the weekly practice also offers an opportunity to develop

greater body awareness, creative flexibility, expressive presence and confidence in

improvisation — while discovering new ways of relating to yourself and others through

movement.

Come with comfortable clothes, curiosity, and a willingness to move a little beyond the

familiar.
