GoodGym x Move10 - come for the start, walk as far as you want! Heath, Feet and History! — GoodGym Barnet’s October Walk Join us for a sociable walk through local green spaces, with autumn scenery, local history and a few GoodGym connections along the way. 📍 Meet: Finchley Central tube station at 11am Distance: Approximately six miles, subject to the final route Time: Around three hours, plus extra time for lunch or a community task Finish: Golders Green tube station, or a bus back to Finchley; there will be opportunities to leave earlier. 🌳 The route We’ll visit St Mary-at-Finchley, where a church has stood since at least the 13th century, and Stephen’s House & Gardens, which GoodGym regularly helps maintain. We’ll also stop at a Tiny Forest where GoodGym has supported citizen science by collecting data on tree growth and woodland development. Following Mutton Brook, we’ll pass green spaces we’ve helped care for before walking through Hampstead Heath Extension towards Golders Hill Park. Expect woodland paths, open views and plenty of time to chat. ☕ A social stop We’ll stop for lunch at Golders Hill Park. Bring a picnic or buy something in the café. Nearby, the Old Bull & Bush was made famous by a music hall song — singing is optional! 💚 A little good along the way We’re hoping to include a short community mission, combining our walk with something useful for the local area. Details will follow if arranged. 🐾 anyone is welcome. Regular GoodGymers, first-timers, friends and dogs on leads are all welcome. You don’t need to be fast or competitive, just comfortable walking several miles on some uneven ground. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water and a waterproof. You’ll be able to shorten the walk if you need to head home early. Report on our last walk in September https://www.goodgym.org/v3/reports/these-brooks-were-made-for-walking-by-goodgym-barnet Please sign up if you’d like to join us, and bring a friend — it’s a lovely way to enjoy some movement, good company and the places our community helps care for. 💛 About GoodGym GoodGym combines light exercise with helping the local community. Some sessions involve volunteering; others — like this one — are about movement, connection, and getting to know what GoodGym does locally.
