Join a working party at Oaken Grove Park to help create a Wildlife Pond in the Nicholas Winton Garden
The work we're to help with is shovelling building bags of top soil into the pond area and sculpting it to create levels withing the pond.Once the top soil is in and compressed down (by us all stamping on it lots!) then there are two builders bags of sand which we will layer to a depth of 10cm to form a smooth base for the pond underlay and liner which will go on top.
It'll be hard manual work so the main thing is to be careful of our backs The working area will be mainly inside the pond and that can also be quite slippery on the gravel.
Sheila will be there on Thursday morning, but the work will be continuing on Thursday afternoon (until about 4pm) and the whole of Friday. If other times suit you better, please sign up and let me know in the comments below when you plan to be there, and I'll let the organisers know
Any help is appreciated, so if you can only spare an hour that would be great too
Meet in the Nicholas Winton Garden
Bring gardening gloves if possible.
