West Dean to Colworth Farm Loop (Moderate)

Join us for a lovely countryside walk starting opposite West Dean Gardens, exploring the beautiful farmland, quiet lanes and woodland around Colworth Farm and Hylters Lane.

We'll begin with a steady uphill climb of approximately 20 minutes along a shaded tarmac lane towards Colworth Farm. It's a great opportunity to get the heart and lungs working and settle into a comfortable walking rhythm.

From here, we'll follow farm tracks before tackling a shorter uphill section along the picturesque, tree-lined Hylters Lane. We'll then head into the peaceful woodland, returning via the Scout camp.

With a total elevation gain of 193 metres, this walk offers a satisfying mix of climbs, varied terrain and lovely countryside scenery. We'll take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, walking at a comfortable pace with time to catch our breath and enjoy the surroundings.

This is a good choice for walkers who enjoy a few hills and are happy with a sustained uphill section at the beginning. There's no need to rush, we'll tackle the climbs steadily and enjoy the walk together.

The farm tracks and woodland paths may be muddy or uneven, particularly after rain, so please wear footwear with good grip.

And to round off our morning, we'll enjoy a well-earned coffee and a friendly catch-up at West Dean Gardens.
