Rutland Water Special Walk

Rutland Peninsula route Hambleton Peninsula – Finch’s Arms Circular WALX 5 Miles 8 Km Starting and finishing at The Finch’s Arms, Oakham Road, Hambleton, Rutland, LE15 8TL, this is a lovely circular countryside walk exploring the Hambleton Peninsula and the landscape surrounding Rutland Water. From The Finch’s Arms, we initially head downhill before turning left through the woodland towards Middle Hambleton. The route then heads east towards Hambleton Wood, continuing around the peninsula past Armley Lodge and on towards Armley Wood. From here, we make our way back around the peninsula towards Hill Top Farm, before tackling the steady climb back up into Hambleton and returning to The Finch’s Arms. Expect a mixture of woodland paths, tracks and open countryside, with some gradients along the route. The final uphill section provides a good finish to the walk, so walking poles are particularly useful. A beautiful Rutland route with plenty of variety, ideal for enjoying the countryside, good company and some fresh air — with the added bonus of finishing back at The Finch’s Arms.
