Ever wanted to give rugby a go but weren't sure it was for you? Come and play with us.
The London Stags are South London's queer rugby club, and on 24 October we're opening our doors for a free Touch New Members' Day. Touch is a fast, non-contact version of rugby.
Our Touch team is mixed and open to every gender. FLINTA players are very welcome: women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender. You don't need to be athletic and you don't need to know the rules and people of all ages, shapes and fitness levels play.
We published some Q&A on our insta page @thelondonstagsrfc.
After you sign up on Outsavvy there's nothing else you need to do, just turn up on the day. Got a question before then? Message us on Instagram at any time. Our membership officers reply to every DM.
On the day: you'll rotate through some stations run by our coach, then play a short, friendly game together. Afterwards the clubhouse stays open, so stick around for a drink and get to know the team and other new members.
Coming alone? No problem at all. You'll be with a group of other first-timers, and someone will be there to say hi when you arrive.
What to bring: trainers, comfy sports clothes and a water bottle. There are toilets, showers and private changing rooms in the clubhouse.
What's next: if you enjoy it, the day leads straight into First Touch, our free four-week beginners' programme (Saturdays, 31 October to 21 November). It takes you from the basics to your first proper game. No problem if you miss a session, you can jump in any week.
See you on the 24th!
The London Stags has been shortlisted for the Inclusive Club of the Year prize, by Out for Sport UK.
“Recognises clubs that have embedded equality, diversity and inclusion into their day-to-day, resulting in a genuinely diverse, welcoming membership.”
