TRANSMISSIONS PRESENTS: Veneno (Episodes 1, 2, 3)

Thrilling, complex, explicit, and never less than spectacularly affecting, Veneno (2020) weaves trans histories and contemporary Madrid together in a story that spans decades, stars countless trans actors, and blows the wheels off every crumb of “representation” that came before it.

Telling the story of real-life trans icon Cristina “La Veneno” Ortiz, while also charting the emerging womanhood of Valeria Vegas, a young journalist who would become Veneno's biographer, this eight-episode miniseries is a sprawling, maximalist ode to transness, storytelling, and the mythic legacy of what feels like a kind of trans superhero.

Don't miss the start of our full series run of Veneno (2020), beginning with the first three episodes of this miraculous beauty by directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi (La Bola Negra).

Episodes will screen with one 10min and one 15min intermission.

Screening will begin 15min after the advertised time instead of our usual half hour.

Episodes will screen in Spanish with English subtitles.

Seating is a mixture of backed chairs, benches, bar stools, and floor space, and is first come, first served.
