Creative workshop inspired by critical texts
Discussing ideas like…
Queer ecology
Radical Optimism
Utopian Thinking
Coloniality
Inspired by Ben Walters’ (Dr. Duckie/ Badge Cafe) concept of Homemade Mutant Hope Machines & Davina Cooper’s Everyday Utopias, we will be analysing critical texts, ripping them apart (metaphorically and literally), and producing a creative group response.
This workshop will be partially led by your interests and whichever direction our discussion goes in.
HOWEVER here are some ideas of what we could do:
Collective group zine
Creating a physical branch of paper leaves discussing our thoughts and feelings
Rewrite or illustrate the provided texts
Collage our collective response with different topics and opinions branching off
A seminar + arts & crafts class where no prior knowledge or experience is needed!
Get involved and join us for some queer, utopian fun!
QueerSwap Studio is wheelchair accessible, but please note that the accessible toilet is on the first floor at main reception. Tea and coffee are available, and you’re welcome to bring your own snacks or drinks into the studio. Please refrain from bringing nuts or shellfish.
QueerSwap Studio is a non-profit community creative space. All proceeds from this activity go to the facilitators. If you’d like to support QueerSwap Studio, consider becoming a Friend of QueerSwap!
