"Beyond a party, we're a collective, and in this notion of a collective, we understand and try to maintain the idea of a collectively shared experience that we nurture together: the DJs, the team and the crowd. We evolve, because we cannot not, but we work hard in sustaining our core - radicalness." Born from Berlin's hedonistic depths, Mala Junta reshapes underground culture with a subversive spirit, fusing '90s rave with DIY philosophy. On 20th November, taking over Bassiani alongside Ndrx and Newa are the collective's founders and resident artists, who have paved the way for safer dancefloors and music communities for women, transgender, and non-binary individuals: Hyperaktivist, with her tribal, euphoric sound, influenced by her roots in Latin America and the Caribbean coast where she grew up, constantly empowering the community and fighting for equality & diversity at the forefront of her initiatives. Korean-American, Berlin-based DJ and producer D.Dan, founder of the summerpup label, draws on his percussionist roots to craft intense, aphotic, hypnotic tension, forever searching for the intersections of raw groove, slippery psychedelia, and mutant-machine paranoia. Kancheli, a visionary artist whose selections channel raw, uncompromising energy steeped in the urgency of street narratives of everyday resistance, and Sophie Phare, the rebellious voice of the Georgian queer counterculture, return to Horoom, joined by the masterminds behind Evil Twin Rekords: Ghana-born, London-bred, and Berlin-based DJ and producer Yazzus, with love of bounce-amplified dance music spanning different textures and tempos, inspired by early ’90s hardcore rave and video games. DJ Tool, whose signature sound is a high-velocity blend of old-school foundations and intrepid, modern energy. His sets are a masterclass in quicksilver transitions, seamlessly traversing percolating trance, frenetic techno, and seductive psychedelia, drawing from an encyclopedic back catalogue of clandestine classics. DJ Tool has been instrumental in re-contextualizing trance within the queer underground and in politicising club culture.
