On Friday, September 18, one of the key collectives of Hungary’s hip-hop, breaks and dub scene, Gimmeshot, takes over the decks and microphones at Viadukt Bár! Music: Hip-Hop, Breaks, 2-Step, Dub For decades, Gimmeshot has been one of the strongest pillars of Budapest’s underground hip-hop and dancehall/bass culture. This evening, pioneers and some of the scene’s most distinctive figures will join forces under the open sky: DJs behind the decks: Mango (Modul aka Mango): A true veteran of Hungary’s electronic music and hip-hop scene, shaping the world of deeper, more experimental and groove-driven beats since the mid-’90s. Ozon (Semantic4): A dedicated master of breaks and tight electronic rhythms. HabooDubz (Polaak): Bringing the dub-infused sounds and deep basslines. MCs on the mic: MC Kemon: The charismatic frontman of Irie Maffia, bringing his unmistakable flow and explosive stage energy to the crowd. MC Busa: An icon of Hungarian hip-hop and freestyle rap (Bëlga, Irie Maffia), known for his linguistic creativity and unstoppable rhymes. Entry: Free!
