Mozart & Murphy

Exquisite Mozart meets shimmering Australian ocean as principal musicians from the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra perform the only two quintets ever written for historical basset clarinet and strings.

Hear Mozart’s beloved Clarinet Quintet, and the ocean-inspired Wavelength by Australian composer Nicole Murphy, commissioned by ARCO in 2024 and capturing the warmth of sunrise and the glow of phosphorescent seas.

Both works come alive with the vivid colours of period instruments, including one of only two historical basset clarinets in Australia.

This concert marks Wavelength’s Melbourne premiere, and a rare opportunity to hear a unique, brilliant program.
