Octave One (Live)

Few artists have carried Detroit techno as far as Carl Craig. Mentored by Derrick May, he launched Planet E in 1991 and built one of the genre's boldest catalogs under his own name and aliases like Paperclip People, 69 and Innerzone Orchestra, whose "Bug in the Bassbin" helped spark drum & bass. A Grammy-nominated remixer, he has taken Detroit's sound into the concert hall with Recomposed for Deutsche Grammophon and the orchestral Versus.

Brothers Lenny and Lawrence Burden have driven Octave One since debuting on Derrick May's Transmat with "I Believe," later building their own 430 West label. "Blackwater" remains one of techno's most enduring records, and their live show, played entirely on drum machines, synths and mixing desks in real time, is a rare thing in a DJ-led world. Two Detroit institutions, one night in LA.
