Jemek Jemowit – 'Ponure Dni' Release Party + NAINN + DJ Philipp Strobel + DJ Mary Ocher

Jemek Jemowit brings Polish camp poetry to the club.

Following releases such as TEKKNO POLO (2013), wróg publiczny no. 1 (2016) and Legenda Zygmunta Blask (2021), his new release Ponure Dni – Polish Camp Poetry once again brings Polish history into the present. At its centre are three Polish poems written in the German concentration camps Majdanek and Auschwitz-Birkenau. Jemowit turns these historical texts into contemporary songs, continuing his exploration of Polish memory through pop music.

The project grew out of Jemowit’s engagement with the history of his grandmother Maria Genowefa Nowak, a Polish forced labourer under German occupation, and asks how camp memory can remain present as the generation of contemporary witnesses disappears.
For the release night, Jemek Jemowit performs Ponure Dni live, joined by NAINN.

Afterwards, Mary Ocher and Philipp Strobel take over with DJ sets, carrying the night from live performance into the club.
