I will discuss how unconventional superconductivity with d-wave order can emerge from electron-phonon interactions. Hamiltonians with Hubbard and Holstein-like interactions are considered, and methodologies include extended Eliashberg and quantum Monte Carlo approaches. Two main cases will be discussed: (1) The natural emergence of unconventional superconductivity from a vertex extended Eliashberg theory constructed within the dynamical cluster approximation framework. (2) The ubiquitous light local pairs that arise from extended attractive interactions, including those with d-wave symmetry.
