Speaker: Dr Jessica Hendy; Senior Lecturer in Palaeoproteomics at the University of York
Series: Pitt-Rivers Archaeological Science Seminar Series

The analysis of ancient proteins continues to advance in leaps and bounds, leading to discoveries into human evolution and hominin behaviour, human-animal-environmental relationships and insights into material culture, among others. But while exciting, these advances are not without technical and conceptual challenges. This talk will discuss emerging work in the field of palaeoproteomics, including protein-based sex estimation of human remains, the use and movement of crafted objects, as well as advances and limitations in the study of past human health.
