Long-range order by local measurements

Building up from the rather well-known example of the one-dimensional cluster state with Z2 x Z2 symmetry, this talk will discuss the transition from a short range entangled state in a non-trivial SPT phase to a classical long-range ordered spin chain, which is induced by appropriately chosen local measurements. The result holds for a general compact symmetry group. We will emphasize the role of the hidden string order which is inherent to SPT phases.
