Speaker: Prof. Pascal Meier
Series: Biochemistry Seminar Series - External Speakers

Most metastatic cancers remain incurable due to the emergence of apoptosis-resistant clones. To overcome this, there is growing interest in harnessing immunogenic forms of cell death driven by filamentous signalling complexes. Our work reveals that RIPK1 acts as a brake on these death filaments. Targeted degradation of RIPK1 releases this restraint, allowing TRADD fibrillation and RIPK3 activation to drive necroptosis, a highly immunogenic, lytic form of cell death. In this seminar, Pascal Meier will present his latest findings on how triggering these molecular scaffolds can engage host defences, overcome immunotherapy resistance, and drive anti-tumour immunity.
