Charlotte Adigery & Bolis Pupul are a Ghent-based electronic duo. Hailed as "club provocateurs" by the Guardian, their sharp, joyous electro-pop takes its cues from heroes like Grace Jones and David Byrne. Their critically acclaimed 2022 debut album "Topical Dancer", released via Soulwax's DEEWEE label, tackled racism, misogyny, post-colonialism and social media vanity with wit and whimsy. It earned co-signs from BBC 6 Music, Pitchfork (Best New Music), The Guardian, the Los Angeles Times, AnOther and more. They've since performed on Later... with Jools Holland, won three MIAs at home in Belgium, and sold out headline shows and played stages around the world, from Glastonbury and Sónar to Big Ears and Pitchfork Music Festival Chicago. Now the pair return with "Mainland Madinina", due in February 2027. The album took shape as both artists experienced major changes in their personal lives. Adigéry became a mother and lost her father to Alzheimer's disease, and Pupul later became a father and released his solo album "Letter to Yu", inspired by his late mother's homeland of Hong Kong. The album is named for their respective places of origin: mainland China and Hong Kong for Pupul (for his grandparents and mother respectively), and Madinina, the Indigenous name for the Caribbean island of Martinique, for Adigery (for her mother). Written in Belgium and Martinique and once again co-produced with Soulwax, it explores grief, parenthood, diaspora and colonial history. Its hybrid sound moves from house, synth-pop and post-punk to gut-wrenching balladry, with Charlotte's most powerful vocals yet. The album is held together by the duo's friendship, their raw emotion and, as always, their signature brand of humour. Statute/FAQ: https://fource.pl/pl/about-us
