Serenade to Music Presented by Seraphic Fire

Season 24 opens with a celebratory program welcoming Seraphic Fire’s new Artistic Director, Dr. James K. Bass. Spanning more than three centuries of choral artistry, this luminous concert features works never before performed live for our audiences. Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music pairs piano, solo violin, and chorus in a radiant tapestry of Romantic lyricism. Eric Whitacre’s When David Heard offers an unaccompanied tour de force of vocal color and profound emotional depth. Buxtehude’s Baroque meditation Ad Manus is reimagined through Caroline Shaw’s contemporary response, To the Hands, weaving strings and voices into a striking dialogue across time. Together, these works explore beauty, grief, devotion, and the transcendent power of the human voice.
