OffSec UK — Beginners Hardware Hacking
Downloads an .ics file · Times are in Europe/London · Google Calendar
The first meeting of OffSec UK's Scotland chapter, an offensive-security community for red teamers, exploit developers and reverse engineers — and for people starting out.
The session is a 60-minute introduction to hardware hacking from Keiran Smith: the basics, dumping firmware over UART, and analysing what comes off the device. It runs at Bar 50 on Blackfriars Street in the Old Town from 18:00, free, with the rest of the evening given to conversation and getting the chapter going.
Why go: Edinburgh has a strong security employer base but few open practitioner rooms, and an inaugural meeting is the cheapest point at which to join one. Best for security engineers, pen testers and anyone curious about firmware.
