The Sumner M. Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness invites GW faculty, staff, and students to its Research in Progress event on October 22, showcasing innovative pilot projects advancing climate adaptation and disease prevention research. Attendees will hear from the Center’s 2025 and 2026 pilot grant awardees as they share preliminary findings and ongoing work addressing critical challenges such as water security, mental health impacts of climate disasters, nutrition security during extreme heat, climate-sensitive infectious diseases, and community-based adaptation strategies for extreme heat. The event highlights multidisciplinary collaborations across GW and with community partners in the U.S. and globally. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about emerging research, engage with investigators from GWSPH and SMHS, and explore future funding and partnership opportunities in climate and health research. Join us on Thursday October 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the GWSPH 7th Floor Case Study Room for presentations and Q&A, followed by lunch at noon.
