How can data visualization become a tool for scientific investigation and communication, not simply a way of presenting results? Eric Rodenbeck, founder of Stamen Design, will share lessons from collaborations with UCSF scientists and other researchers, including the Atlas of Emotions with Paul Ekman and the Dalai Lama, the UCSF Health Atlas with Dr. Debby Oh, and Brain Cartography with Dr. Edward Chang. Through these projects, he will explore how maps, interfaces, and visual systems can enliven complex data, expose unexpected relationships, generate new questions, and help researchers and broader audiences think differently about science.

Brought to you by the April Krueger Women's Health Symposiuim.
