November Sabha Deep Dive: Dance in Demanding Times

Sabha means “assembly” — and that’s what we’re trying to be: a gathering spot fostering belonging and creative exploration of South Asia beyond boundaries through the performing arts. We’re excited to announce our next Sabha Deep Dive, part of a series of small, focused & intimate gatherings that highlight ideas that are underrepresented in conventional art spaces.

This month, our Deep Dive will feature Dr. Preethi Ramaprasad, presenting Dance in Demanding Times. In her own words:

"How can we create art and move as the ground beneath us seems distinctly unstable?  Preethi Ramaprasad traces answers to this question drawing on her three-decade-long journey in Bharatanatyam. From understanding the contexts of hereditary compositions to choreographing pieces that speak to her South Asian American identity, Preethi will lead the audience through responding to demanding times in deeply personal and urgent ways."

We are an inclusive space for creatives of all religions, nationalities, castes, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and other identities and backgrounds.

Doors will open at 4:45 and the event will start at 5. Light snacks will be served.
