Steeped in Sound: An evening of Tea, Music and Stories, is one of many events as part of the Téa Okou pop-ups. At this event we will be sharing stories about our favourite songs within the music theme, time period, and genre of the evening, while enjoying teas specially curated by Téa Okou and cookies made and provided by Cha's bakery.

What to expect: This event asks that you choose a song, within a provided theme, that has what could be a unique fact, story, memory, or personal connection attached to it. You'll then submit either the song alone or both the song and its story through the RSVP form.

All submitted songs will be added to a playlist that we will listen to together during the event. The day of event, we will go through the playlist, and people will have the opportunity to voluntarily share the story behind the song they submitted.

Music theme: The genre for this event is 90s R&B and Hip Hop. Think of artists like Sade, Lauryn Hill, MF Doom, D'Angelo, The Notorious B.I.G., Aaliyah, OutKast, Whitney Houston, and more international artists of this genre with hits exclusively in the 90s.

Téa Okou (pronounced tay-ah oh-koo) is a tea salon and listening club, born out of a need for good tea and human connection through music. This space exist in the hopes to bring back the normalization of bonding and connecting over music centered conversations with friends and people within the local community, and to create a no-pressure, sober social space that encourages the act of being more present across all senses.
