Gæmz 86 in Berlin

🎨🚧🚦🧑‍🎤🐀🎨🚧🚦🧑‍🎤🐀🎨🚧🚦🧑‍🎤🐀🎨🚧🚦🧑‍🎤🐀It's time for Gæmz meetup in Berlin, hosted by Neil! Let's hang out and talk about what we've been up to.
We're back at Saftladen Indie Games Collective (Lichtenberg)https://saftladen.berlin
The event is free but as we have limited spaces, please only RSVP if you intend to come. And if you need to cancel, even on the day of the event, please let us know so we can offer your space to someone else.
👽 Gæmz?
New to Gæmz? It’s a hangout/social gathering event and a community for the people who are into art/experimental/alternative game development, playful media, and general d0peshit founded in 2019 by Nomi (thenomi.com). Since 2024, the in-person community space expanded and now we have regular meet-ups in Tokyo, London, Taipei, and Copenhagen. Nomi had hosted pop-up Gæmz in Berlin a couple of times in the past but this is the first time we're doing this with an intention to make it a regular event. The event runs for roughly 3 hours, the first hour of which is usually spent on ice breaker sesh/waiting for people, followed by presentations (up to 5 minutes + Q&A) by each of the attendees.
Presentations aren't mandatory, you can come along just to be interested/supportive/inspired, but we want everyone who does want to present to have an opportunity to do so, so presentations should be short. (5 mins presentations + 5 mins Q&A). We'd also like to know a bit about everyone. So, even if you don't have anything to present, we strongly encourage everyone to say hi and share a little something (it can be the breakfast you recently had or anything that made you feel/think something)
📝 So, here's a handy checklist for attending the event:
RSVP
You're feeling fit & healthy (in your standards)
Recommended: Stuff you'd like to show and a device that allows you to show them (e.g. laptop, tablet, tower pc, paper prototype, altctrl stuff, book, canvas, etc.)

🛟 Safer Space Policy
Gæmz is dedicated to providing a harassment free social experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, faiths, backgrounds, or artistic/game preferences. Please be excellent to each other and party on. :^)If you felt or spotted anything that made you feel uncomfortable, found problematic, we have a reporting system on our Discord. Please use that or contact us directly.
📸 Photo/Video Policy
At Gæmz, we don't usually document the event as we want to have a relaxed, friendly time where people feel safe, cosy, and free to express themselves. So, if you'd like to take photos or videos, please ask permission to the presenters. Also, we recently started taking group photos for our own memories because people started feeling a little sad that we don't record anything. So we might try that. Please remind me to do it if I seem to have forgotten about the group photo. (If you don't want to be photographed, you can of course sit out)
🤖 Statement on AI
Gæmz welcomes everyone but we are against the unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI. It's unethical and sucks.
If you agree with us, you can also sign this protest letter Statement on AI Training
Also, check out KIKI Norge, an initiative to regulate Generative AI use. (The website is in Norwegian but you can autotranslate it)
🙌 Interested in starting Gæmz in your city?
We got a guide for that! As we have a bit of an onboarding process and board for the hosts where we discuss some important matters such as numbers now, please speak to Nomi if you're interested in starting Gæmz in your area.

OK I think that's all. for now. Looking forward to hanging out with you all!
