A walk through Regency London

At the turn of the 19th Century London was a city of enormous contrasts. In the east, goods and raw materials pouring into the City from the empire through the London docks. Manufacturing was booming along the canal system which linked London to the industrial revolution of the north. Much of this wealth ended up the west end where the Prince Regent and his favourite architects were transforming the area into a playground for the rich. Join Tim on a beautiful walk from the glories of Regents Park, along the Regents Canal ending in the astonishing redevelopment of Kings Cross. We'll see some of the grandest houses in London and some of the city's best views but also the remnants of the industries that made London great and the ordinary people who contributed to this tumultous period. We meet at the Metropolitan Bar by Baker Street station at 10.45 to start walking at 11 am. We'll end in a pub or restaurant near Kings Cross just after 1 pm.
