We hike on the 3rd Sunday of each month at Little Falls Ridge & Kloofendal Nature Reserves in Roodepoort. Distance + Duration: We will start our hike at Little Falls Ridge which is about 4km. It takes about 3 hours to complete. It is steep and really fun🤗🏃🏻♀️🤸🏾. We will take short breaks at the top of the hills and enjoy our snacks while marvelling at the amazing views of the Gauteng Province and beyond. From the iconic Johannesburg skyline in the east, the skyline of the Sandton CBD in the north-easterly direction, the surbabs of the western regions of Gauteng in front of us, the Craddle of Humankind. This magnificent view stretches all the way to the Magaliesburg Mountains in the North West, far away in the horizon. The Kloofendal trail is about 5 km. We usually hike about 2km when we get there. It takes two hours at most to finish the hike. Pace: Moderate to fast hike. You will enjoy it if you're fit. Time: We will meet at 07:15am. Venue: We will meet at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve parking lot. The main Kloofendal entrance is at Gallena Avenue, Kloofendal. Fee: Free. What to Bring For the Hike ○ At least two bottles of water🫙🧃. ○ Snacks, fruits. Hiking can make you hungry. If you eat salty food while you're hiking you become very thirsty. It's best to bring something juicy. 🍇🍌🍊🍏🍫 ○ A camera, to capture and share the great memories. ○ A hat. It gets hot, you need a hat. 👒🧢 ○ Wear comfortable tekkies and thick socks to protect your feet, particularly your toes.👟🧦 ○ Wearing comfortable clothes will make the hike more enjoyable. Our Community Picnic After the hike we'll have a bring and share community picnic. Just bring what you can, it's okay to keep things simple and minimal. You can simply bring sandwiches or dumplings or your favourite stew that mom used to cook, or aunty's best curry. Because a home cooked meal is the best meal in town, hey family 😃😋🥘🧆🫕🥧 There are braaing facilities at Kloofendal so you can just bring charcoal to make a fire if you'd like to enjoy braaied meat. Vegetarians are also welcome to come share vegetarian dishes. Below's a brief picnic checklist you can use food, drink, water etc. Plate, cup, and a spoon. Camp chair or blanket. I usually bring a yoga mat to sit on. For more information contact Nonhlanhla Teslar Ngeleza at 073 553 2572 on WhatsApp
