November GeoDC

Join us on November 4, 2026 for the next GeoDC!

We meet each month from 6-9pm at Sudhouse DC on the 3rd floor.
Arrive between 6-7pm for Networking & Happy Hour Specials.

Our program will begin around 7pm with our usual events + job announcements, then we’ll have our Geo lightning presentations.

November Guest Speakers:

1. Arzoo Malhotra, Independent Artist, Zoo Animal Productions.
Geography is a joke: STEM and arts.
How can art, humor, and media help communicate science? Join local comedian, writer, and cartographer Arzoo Malhotra as she explores just that. A spatial data analyst by day and performing artist by night, catch her talk about some of the unconventional and creative strategies she used to make STEM stick.
2. Jessica Breen, American University
An Introduction to NACIS and Highlights from the 2026 Annual Meeting.
Dr. Breen is the Program Director for Geospatial Research Support at American University; she also serves on the board of North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS)
This presentation will give us an overview of NACIS, including the professional organizations history, current initiatives, such as their mentorship program, cartographic resources, and how to become a member. She will also give us a review of the 2026 NACIS Annual Meeting, which occurred during mid-October in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
