Join us for the opening of “Memory Foam” exhibition by Onree at Jinny Street Gallery From October 1 to October 27, 2026, 42 exclusive ceramic works by Onree will be presented throughout Jinny Street Gallery and the surrounding streets of Jingumae 2-chome, Shibuya. For the opening evening, we’ll come together to discover the exhibition, meet Onree, explore the works across the neighbourhood, and connect with artists, creatives, and art lovers from Tokyo’s creative community. 🎨 What to Expect 🖼️ Discover 42 ceramic works by Onree throughout Jinny Street Gallery and Jingumae 2-chome. From around 20:00, we'll head out together for an Artist Walk through "Memory Foam" Exhibition, exploring the installations with participating artists and discovering how the neighborhood has been transformed into an interactive playground for art. 🖼️ About the Exhibition In “Memory Foam,” Onree explores what happens when an artist stops trying to control the final form of a ceramic object. Rather than beginning with a predetermined shape, Onree allows the material and the body to lead the process. Touching, bending, pressing, pinching, and attaching become intuitive gestures through which each vessel gradually takes shape. Once fired, these temporary gestures become permanent. The softness of clay becomes hard ceramic, preserving the pressure of a fingertip, the movement of a hand, a deformation, or an unexpected mark as a lasting memory. For Onree, irregularities and imperfections are not mistakes to be corrected, but traces of the moment in which each work was created — physical records of feeling, movement, and thought. Presented across Jinny Street Gallery, an open-air art space integrated into the everyday flow of Jingumae 2-chome, the 42 works become part of the streets and the neighbourhood around them. The exhibition creates a dialogue between the traces left by the artist’s hands and the traces of everyday life — fingerprints on glass, reflections, marks, movement, and encounters with people passing through the street. In Memory Foam, the vessels become more than objects.
