Shame and How We Build Resilience to It
Shame is one of the most powerful emotions we experience, and one we rarely name out loud. In this session, Sarah Chamberlain, founder of UnashamED, will explore what shame is, how it operates in our thoughts, relationships and sense of self, and what the research tells us about becoming more resilient to it. Sarah brings her own background as an educator, coach and practitioner researcher, along with the work of UnashamED, a movement working to make shame literacy and self-worth part of the conversation on social justice as much as personal wellbeing. Expect an honest look at a topic most of us avoid, alongside real tools for handling it better. A short note: shame can be a sensitive subject, so take care of yourself during the session and step out if you need to. This is ultimately a talk about connection and resilience, not just difficulty. As we pay for the hire of the hall, donations are really valued to help our charity group continue. The suggested amount is £5 but less is appreciated too, and everyone is warmly welcomed to join so don't worry at all if you can't donate. 😊 We recommend you also RSVP by officially joining the 10 Keys Group here https://actionforhappiness.org/groups/brighton . We can then send you additional info about this and other events and related resources.
