Let's head out on this popular gorge loop. We'll meet at the Wahkeena trailhead, climb along Wahkeena creek, then loop around the top of Multnomah Falls, coming down the busy switchbacks and back along a connector trail to complete the hike. We'll be treated to views of the gorge and Wahkeena creek along the way. In addition to soaking in the views of Wahkeena and Multnomah falls, we'll catch glimpses of Weisendanger, Ecola, and Fairy Falls.

Plan to arrive in time for a prompt 9:30 am departure. Expect a steady pace without too many breaks. This is a moderately challenging hike and the initial climb has a significant elevation gain. It is not recommended for those who are brand new to hiking. The upper part of the loop may have muddy conditions and downed trees to climb over. We'll plan to arrive back at the trailhead around 1pm, depending on the groups pace. There will likely be an optional stop for food on the way back to Portland.

Bring: sturdy hiking shoes or boots, weather-appropriate clothing, plenty of water, snacks, and an extra layer.

Well-behaved dogs are always welcome! Please don't bring any dogs that are aggressive towards people or other dogs.

Carpooling is encouraged and can be coordinated in the comments.

My goal is to ensure that all attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience, but please be aware that I am a volunteer host and not a professional guide. By attending this hike, you acknowledge that you are accepting sole responsibility for your own safety and well-being. Please come prepared, know your own limits, and hike at your own risk.
