Second run-out for this walk. A pleasant, undulating route starting from Coxwold, with its picturesque main street, heading up onto Beacon Banks, down into the village of Husthwaite and on to both Low & High Kilburn. The White Horse is never far from our gaze as we traverse fields, tracks, quiet roads, woodland trails & beckside paths.

Recce notes: a couple of gates to clamber over. Although an undulating course, there is only one significant short, steep climb (up a path, then road – 10mins), and a longer, steadier climb up through a few fields.

The walk will be led at a steady pace: not too fast, not too slow. Please be ready to start walking at the advertised time.

Walk fee: £3. No dogs please. Bring packed lunch/drink/snacks with you.

After-walk refreshment: the Fauconberg Arms is a nice country pub and there is also a tea room at the other end of the main street.

Start point: Coxwold village hall car park, fee by donation, toilets available. Turn off the main street at the village crossroads sp Byland, Wass, Ampleforth, Helmsley and the car park is behind the village hall. Postcode is YO61 4BB.

I have no formal walk leader or first-aid qualifications and the Group does not have insurance. When you RSVP for any walk, you accept that you remain responsible for your own safety at all times. You are required to respect the walk leader and be mindful of the safety of others. Please keep to the pace of the group and don’t go off ahead even if you think you know the route.
