Museums impact the communities they serve by teaching people about their histories, acting as a third space, and providing educational and career programming.
This summer, our panelists paved their path of exploration through roles that occur behind the scenes to keep these cultural and educational institutions functioning and relevant. They worked in areas such as operations, education, community outreach, and collections management in museums focused on history, art, and science. They gained hands-on experience in a variety of tasks, between designing educational programs and handling archival materials, and witnessed the impact museums have on their communities. They hope to introduce peers and the public to the possibilities in museums and the distinct ways that museum work can contribute to various communities across the world.
