About Derrick Ong
Derrick Ong is a lifestyle documentary photographer and visual storyteller who documents people, emotions, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. With a minimalist approach, creative framing and aesthetic composition, he focuses on honest moments and genuine human connection. He is deeply inspired by the emotional depth, mood, and simplicity that monochrome imagery brings and his work often explores light and shadows.
Derrick’s storytelling approach has earned him more than 100 international photography awards from organisations such as the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers, Wedding Photojournalist Association, Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, and PDN Top Knots. He was also ranked among the top 20 international photographers by AGWPJA on three separate occasions
Derrick is a long-standing ambassador for Fujifilm, a role he has held for over eight years. Through this collaboration, he has worked on multiple global camera launch projects, producing both still and motion imagery that reflect his signature photography style. He also mentors creatives as an Associate Lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
